After four years of hard work, we have officially exchanged contracts with Fuller’s and paid the deposit to purchase The Crown under a community-led buy-out.
When we launched our fundraising campaign, we hoped to raise £619,000 — an ambitious target for a village of just 265 houses. In only six weeks, we exceeded that goal and raised more than £650,000, with support from over 200 investors, including around 160 from Cuddington and many others from neighbouring villages and beyond.
This achievement has only been possible thanks to an incredible team effort. My sincere thanks go to:
Tim, my long-standing partner in the project
Our five principal investors for their unwavering support over the past four years
The 12 committee members who have worked tirelessly in recent months
And everyone who has invested financially or offered their time and support
We are also delighted to announce the team who will help shape the future of The Crown:
Abigail Armstrongwill lead the pub operation, bringing a lifetime of hospitality experience
Chef Tomjoins us to create high-quality, reasonably priced food and help establish The Crown as a destination for great dining
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be refreshing the pub with:
New cellar equipment
A modernised kitchen
Updated seating and lighting
Improvements to the outdoor areas, including benches, umbrellas and flowers
We are aiming to open in June, with more updates to follow soon.
On behalf of the village of Cuddington, thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen. Together, we’ve secured the future of our pub for generations to come.
We look forward to welcoming you all through the doors very soon.
